Design Concept
It was a challenge since the beginning. The question of how to cover the southern facade of the existing pool courtyard in order to create privacy from the completely exposed multi-story parking garage next door was full of possible answers. After several ideas we agreed with the homeowners that a two-story outside porch connected to each other would be the best way to cover this side of the house and still function around the pool and at the same time, completely interconnect the interior spaces with the exterior ones at all levels.
Construction Process
The Addition was completely built with a conventional wood frame sytem. However, as almost every addition and retrofit projects, it involved a very careful supervision approach from our side during construction so that the existing and new structures could be well integrated and all details resolved.
